When Life Was Nothing More Than Living For The Night...

I'm soooo behind on my blogging... mi dispiace! Sooo let me recap 2 of the last 3 weekends in this little post... because Istanbul needs its own... too magical.

Ok so lets time travel all the way back to the first weekend of February... and lets visit Amsterdam! Amsterdam was quite the city... crazy crazy and crazy beautiful. We woke up bright and early to catch our 7 am flight out of Florence to Munich. They forced us to check our bags in Florence and we only had a 30 minute layover in Munich, so we were freaaaaking out over our luggage, but we ended up getting right back on the same plane so our luggage made it! Our second flight from Munich to Amsterdam was supposed to be an hour but ended up lasting over 2 and a half hours since the wind was so terrible coming into Amsterdam. I absolutely hatttte turbulence soo I picked a song to go out on and gripped the sides of my seat for the majority of that flight. When we were safely on the ground we grabbed our stuff and headed off into HOLLAND on the train. We navigated the train and the trams with great gusto and were finally at our little hotel. After dropping our stuff off at our cute little apartment we had to go find food. Amsterdam was literally munchie capital of the world, which it really should be. We found this place called Wok to Walk, which was an asian to go restraunt where you picked noodles, meat, veggies, and sauce to mix together in a Wok to Walk away with. It was seriously AMAZING! After our feast we headed off to the Heineken Brewery for some experience. It was sooo much fun and so interactive... and sooo much free Heineken. We then walked the streets and canals, landed in a cafe, and then headed to the Red light District... which is the most demeaning thing I have ever seen in my life. It was a hard thing to walk through. It was also crazy there... such a wierd city!

We got up early the next day and headed off in search of breakfast! We found the absolute cutest little cafe and had real eggs! and toast! and real mint tea... with actual mint leaves. It was amazzze. The it was off to Ann Frank, which was defintly my favorite part of the city. It was heartbreaking and uplifting. I loved it. Then it was off to Van Gough, which was more for Tayler than anything. Meredeth, Merchedes, and I finished within the hour and waited in the cafe for Tayler. She loooooooved it and I thought it was definitly cool, but I have no idea whats ever going on in art museums. We feasted on realll bagels after, which totally rooocked my socks off. I loove American bagels! We napped and headed off to Burger Bar, which so many of our friends reccomended. It a build your own burger place and it was soo worth the find. We then headed back to experience more of the red light and cafe scene. We were back to stream our beloved Zags and surprise watch them lose to Memphis. The next day was another morning bagel which was heaven! And then we rented bikes and did things the Amsterdam way. It is such a beautiful city and biking through the canals is the PURRRFECT way to see it. I loove that place.

Fast forward a week to Milan and some much needed catch up with my favorite fatima friend Maria. Riri is studying in Toledo, Spain and was able to get a cheap flight to Milan and so we had to meet up. We spent the first day getting lunch, shopping till we dropped, and getting Maria some Italian food for dinner. We talked and talked and talked. Tayler and Maria hit it off, so it was so nice to have some much needed relaxation and girl time with my old and new girlfriends. The next day we went to the MOMA, or the modern art museum, for Tayler and ofcourse Maria and I goofed around for a while... typical. The afternoon was dedicated to our god, George Clooney, and Lake Como. We spent a leisurely lunch on the piazza and an hour or so in a paddle boat on the lake blasting some quality tunes from my ipod touch. It was simply heaven. We headed back to Milan for an amazing Italian dinner and some movie time. I loooved the weekend. There really is nothing better than old friends, new friends, and italian food, oh and my idea of heaven... Lake Como.

So there you go... next up ISTANBUL... aka the coolest city I have ever been to. Ciao brown cow!
